Diet Cokes of London theatre

Am I really out here starting a blog and a series of posts entirely made from a half joke I made on twitter? Absolutely, this is the high brow theatre blogging that the world has been missing (I am, being rather sarcastic, but I do enjoy writing)
I would like to add before i get in this isn't meant as a "dig" at anyone, just some funny observation I made that really started snowballing!

If you'd like to provide pricing for a diet coke at a theatre I've missed, do feel free to contact me on twitter, or @TeaAtTheTheatre on Instagram.

Without further ado let's get in to the meat of the subject: the varying prices of Diet Coke in London's theatres.

Important stats for those of us who like them:
Most expensive: Adelphi Theatre - £3.90
Least expensive: Gielgud Theatre - £2.50
Average price: £3.21
Theatres surveyed: 7

Adelphi Theatre, strand - Most recent diet coke price £3.90
An image of a diet coke held in out with a view of the curtain at Back to the Future: the musical
I am all too frequently found in the Adelphi at Back to the Future: the musical! It's one of my favourite things to see on the west end. Both images here are from future day in October 2021

A diet coke here used to be £3.50 back in March! that's a 40p price increase.

I do enjoy being served it in a glass bottle, if I'm paying through the nose for a diet coke, then I'd rather it was in glass! Also getting a coke is a fun little in-show reference so I won't be stopping, after all, you'll be fine - you've had coke

Arts Theatre West End, Great Newport Street - Most recent diet coke price - £2.60

This is, in fact, a pint of beer I was served by one of the cast rather than a diet coke

I can't lie to you, I mostly drank beer at the arts as I was there for choir of man, and when you get given a pint from the cast on stage, generally you take it! (if you don't drink, I'm not gonna judge you!). But I have been back since for Bonnie and Clyde and can confirm the last price I paid was £2.60. I will say its served in a plastic glass, but you do get ice and a slice! which I award a bonus point to the arts for.

Ambassador's Theatre, west street - Most recent diet coke price £3.70

This information came to me via twitter - and also the note that this was in fact a Pepsi Max! At time of writing, the only non coca cola theatre I have a diet cola price for!

Apollo Theatre, Shaftesbury Avenue - Most recent diet coke price £3.30

This info came in response to my original tweet on twitter, I haven't been myself so cant pass comment on the diet coke drinking experience unfortunately

Gielgud theatre, Shaftesbury Avenue - Most recent diet coke price £2.50

Another price from twitter! Though shout out to the Gielgud for being the current lowest priced diet coke!

Leicester square theatre. Leicester Place - Most recent diet coke price £3.75

More information from twitter! I am yet to venture in to this theatre myself but I have been told this is the price for a pint, with a half coming in at £2.75 (for stats reasons i have included the full pint price rather than the half)

Southwark Playhouse, Newington Causeway - Most recent diet coke price £2.70

Another price from twitter here, and also my two trips to Southwark Playhouse! I'm a big fan of this theatre and have been lucky enough to see anyone can whistle and lift there!

Not included in the overall stats however here's a favourite of mine i wanted to mention:

The Theatre Café, St Martins Lane  - Most recent diet coke price £2.20

THEY ALSO SERVE TEA

While not a theatre I'm including it here at the end as a little add on, as the theatre café is a place many of us will know - and somewhere that sells a much more reasonably priced diet coke than the vast majority of west end theatres! Also a bonus point for being in a glass bottle, its all about the experience isn't it!
